Porn clip played in hot pot restaurant in China

Haidilao is a Chinese hot pot restaurant chain specialising in high-quality service. Founded in Sichuan, the hot pot brand has gained ever-increasing popularity among Chinese since 1994. But as its scale of operation elevates, ridiculous incidents have eroded the reputation of the hot pot giant. Recently in Wuhan, China, the patrons at a branch of Haidilao were surprised by a pornographic video playing on a huge screen for minutes.

On 6 Jan 2019, while people were gathering for hot pot meals in the middle of cold winter in Wuhan, Hubei, their attention was caught by something hotter than the steaming hot pots. A pornographic video was being played on a giant screen visible to all patrons in the restaurant. The embarrassing moment lasted for several minutes.

A completely nude woman was shown on the gigantic screen. Behind her was a man who was believed to be carrying out sexual intercourse in the video. Some waiters giggled when they were working. All of it ended when a waiter pulled out a remote control and switched off the screen.

It is still unclear who is held responsible for the incident. But Haidilao is in hot water for sure, even though official apologies were issued. Local police stated that the case is under investigation. The incident generated discussions on the internet. "Haidilao is known for its good service. Now you see it for yourself!" Someone commented. "Perhaps someone asked the waiters for the porn." Some netizens suspected.
